In simple terms, we are identifying the most exemplary mines and creating a community who are passionate about making mining a force for good. SMO has established a consistent supply of responsibly sourced gold and the number of mines is growing. Together we will allow consumers to engage in the provenance of their gold.

SMO mines adhere to the exacting standards of the World Gold Council Responsible Gold Mining Principles (RGMPs), Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) or International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) principles.
The World Gold Council RGMPs were established in September 2019, an overarching framework that represents international best practices in exploration, operation and closure of gold mines. Current SMO mines have signed up to adhere to the RGMPs alongside other leading ESG international standards. An independent auditing procedure is expected to certify our full compliance to the RGMPs by the end of 2022.

We regularly and systematically conduct due diligence to identify human rights, corruption and conflict risks in our supply chain, to prevent any adverse impacts. We also exercise risk-based due diligence on the entities to which we sell our products.
We maintain high standards of occupational health and hygiene and implement risk-based monitoring of the health of our workforce based on occupational exposures. We promote the physical and mental wellbeing of our workforce.
We consult regularly and in good faith with the communities associated with our operations on matters of interest to them, and will take account of their perspectives and concerns.
