THE 'VULCAN' RING

In 2020, Emefa reached new levels of cultural significance and recognition with the V&A museum when her ‘Vulcan’ ring was acquired for its permanent jewellery collection, the process of which was documented in the BBC2 television series ‘Secrets of the Museum.’

2021

THE 'CALDERA' RING

This was closely followed by the Goldsmith Company acquiring a ‘Caldera’ ring for the Company Collection in 2021.

Further cementing Emefa and her work as an important cultural icon within the British jewellery industry, in 2022 she joined the V&A as a Curator for Jewellery (Diaspora).

MET GALA

In 2023, Emefa Cole was chosen by Met Gala co-host Michaela Coel to design her jewellery pieces for what has become known as the most fashionable night for the year.

Emefa designed a suite, comprising of a headpiece, based on a coral branch and crafted using tiny gold nuggets of SMO gold, accompanied by showstopping earrings and two cocktail rings, hand textured to look like ‘silky liquid gold’.

The SMO gold can be traced to Endeavour Mining’s, Ity mine in Cote d’Ivoire, celebrated for its responsible mining practice, adhering to the strictest ESG standards.

“I want more makers to know who is mining their materials and to use SMO gold. All my gold is from the Ity Mine in Côte d'Ivoire and two incredible women run it. These mines provide vital social, environmental and cultural support to local communities.”
