The first mine producing Single Mine Origin Certified gold is Hummingbird Resources’ Yanfolila mine in southern Mali. The mine first poured gold in December 2017 and already has indicated and inferred resources of over 1.5m ounces of gold (including over 700,000 probable reserves) whilst continuing to explore. This gold will be produced at a rate of over 100,000 ounces per year.

Hummingbird Resources is committed to having a lasting economic and social benefit on the local communities around the mine. During the construction of the mine, over 1400 people were employed of which over 90% were Malian. Now in the operational phase, around 800 workers remain employed, of which over 95% are Malian.

Hummingbird is engaged in a broad range of local projects, ensuring that the mine makes a meaningful long-term contribution to local communities.
